We live in the Ocean State, so let’s talk CRMC permits…
If you love the beach as much as we do and you want to take your Bronco there to play, there are a few things you should know! If you don’t educate yourself and prepare, you will wind up like the people in the image below, which not only is a pain in the butt but will also cost you BIG MONEY if you get caught without a CRMC permit and the equipment that it requires.
These people were from Massachusetts and decided that an adventure on the East Beach trail without a CRMC permit or any equipment was a good idea. They had dug themselves about 12 inches down into the sand and were STUCK. Two rescue vehicles and 45 minutes got them free and on their way. DON’T BE THESE PEOPLE!
RI CRMC permit equipment list includes:
heavy duty shovel
tow rope or chain (15 feet, load strength 1800 lbs)
jack and support stand (min 18x18 inches)
street legal tires (not snow or mud tires)
spare tire
low pressure gauge (0-20 lbs)
first aid kit
fire extinguisher
emergency signal devices (flares or two way radio)
flashlight
RI also requires 4 wheel drive (not all wheel drive). The fee is $100 for residents. and the application is online.
Keep in mind that different states likely have different requirements and processes.
Mando loooved the beach!
The Bronco Off-Rodeo
If you don’t know already, when you bought your Bronco you got a free ticket to the Bronco Off-Rodeo. If you haven’t taken advantage of this opportunity…RUN don’t walk! This very well done event will teach you the capabilities of your Bronco on terrain built for adventure! The best part of it is that you will drive a Bronco that doesn’t belong to you - so no worries about dents or scratches. It’s an event you won’t forget - I promise!
If you participated in this experience, share your adventure in the comments!
Then specially trained staff take you up and down the mountain. By the end of the day you understand what GOAT mode and the HERO bar were designed for. You feel like a superhero when its over.
The Adventure Begins
You get to pick your Bronco. They are all outfitted with the sasquatch package. We chose a Badlands, knowing that is what we had on order.
You will learn about respectful mud. So while you are steering in the mud, you don’t disrupt the trail. Learn more about that at
